Professor Yuen obtained his MBBS in 1992, MD with Sir Patrick Manson Gold Medal in 2001, and PhD in 2005. He is now the Chair Professor and Endowed Professor in Medicine of the Li Shu Fan Medical Foundation, the Chief of the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, the Deputy Head of University Department of Medicine, The University of Hong Kong, the Deputy Chief of Service of the Department of Medicine, Queen Mary Hospital, Hong Kong and the Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, the University of Hong Kong.
Professor Yuen's research interests include the prevention, natural history, molecular virology and treatment of chronic hepatitis B and C, and hepatocellular carcinoma. He has published more than 350 research papers in world renown academic journals, including New England Journal of Medicine, The Lancet, JAMA, The Lancet Infectious Disease, The Lancet Oncology, Gastroenterology and Nature Review of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. Professor Yuen is one of the top authors for publications related to chronic hepatitis B disease in the world.
Because of his outstanding research in the field of Hepatology, Professor Yuen has already received several local and regional prestigious awards during his young academic years. He is now leading a team of more than 20 clinicians and scientists who are actively performing clinical and experimental research on Hepatology.
He is now the editor for four international journals and the editorial members for many international journals.
