Sang Hoon Ahn, M.D., PhD, is a Professor of Yonsei University College of Medicine and a director of Referral Centre, Severance Hospital, Yonsei University Health System, Seoul, Republic of Korea.
He has completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship at Liver Research Centre in Brown Medical School, USA (2001-2003). His career has been advanced during his sabbatical years at Victorian Infectious Diseases Reference Laboratory (VIDRL), WHO Collaborating Centre in Australia (2008-2009).
He was a Chairman of the Academic Committee of Korean Liver Cancer Study Group (2010-2011), the Asia Pacific Primary Liver Cancer Expert Meeting (APPLE 2013) and a Chairman of the Publicity
Committee of Korean Association of the Study of the Liver (KASL) (2014-2015). He is an advisor for
the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety in Korea and a global
advisory board member/speaker of international pharmaceutical companies.
Prof. Sang Hoon Ahn is an Editor of Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Academic Editor of PLoS ONE and Special Section Editor of Gut and Liver. He is also an editorial board of Journal of Hepatology, Liver International, World Journal of Gastroenterology, Hepatology International, World Journal of Hepatology, World Journal of Virology, Gastroenterology and Hepatology Research, American Journal of Cancer Science, American Journal of Cancer Review. He sits on reviewer for NEJM, Lancet, Gastroenterology, Gut, Hepatology, etc.
His major research interests include chronic hepatitis B, C, cirrhosis and liver cancer. He has completed and is complementing over 50 outstanding clinical trials as a principal investigator. He has over 230 SCI publications (Gastroenterology, Hepatology, Gut, Journal of Hepatology, etc as the first author) including book chapters and review articles in peer-reviewed journals. His invited oversea lectures are over 120 times around the world.
