(ESPE). He has recently beenelected President of the
European Society for Paediatric Endocrinology in
2020.Professor Dattani has established a
research group investigating the molecularbasis of hypothalamo-pituitary disease at
UCL. He has identified novelgenes implicated in hypothalamo-pituitary
development in patients withcongenital hypopituitarism, and more recently
has worked on understandingthe molecular basis of apaediatric brain tumour called adamantinomatouscraniopharyngioma. His work has been recognised nationally andinternationally; he has publications
in a number of high impact journals andreceived national and international awards for his work,
including theDonaldPaterson prize awarded by the
Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Healthand the Henning Andersen
prize awarded by ESPE. He sits on numerousadvisory boards and editorial boards of journals.Professor Dattani’s research group is
currently studying pituitary developmentin humans, with a view
to identifying novel genes implicated in the aetiology ofcongenital hypopituitarism and related
disorders and eventually investigatingpossible genotype-phenotype
correlations. He also has an interest in anumber of rare endocrine disorders, usually due to disordered development ofendocrine organs.
